Design Management is the key word in the growth and evolution of fashion. In the new decade a previously unknown social figure takes centre stage and becomes the protagonist: it is a new kind of consumer, more demanding in terms of product quality, more interested in style than labels, more careful in choosing what clothes to buy. A strategy must be evolved to respond to these changes, to meet these new needs which, far from involving mere consumption, have social and cultural implications.
